Jane Millington
Having recently turned to a full-time art practice, Jane looks to build intimate connections with the natural world.
With a focus on our waters and coastal lands, her oil paintings depict the dichotomy between the perpetual movement of the water and its ability to evoke a sense of emotional stability and well-being. Employing an indirect method to slowly build her paintings layer by layer, Jane aims to regenerate the viewer’s engagement with the ebb and flow of their lives reflected in the water’s movement. Using multiple glazes, velatura and scumbling techniques, she creates painted canvas windows where we can be still with nature.
A former diplomat and art teacher, at the heart of Jane’s art is a message of conservation, appreciation, and sustainable use.
